Instruments: Violin Viola

I has been immersed in the wonderful world of music since 2009. I started my studies at the Conservatorium of Music of Carabobo, where I learned about music theory, harmony and history of music. There I began to fall in love with sounds, especially the sounds of bowed string instruments and started to learn Viola and Violin. Thus developing different kind of musical works, both classical and cultural, I had the opportunity to perform and be part of several Symphonic Orchestras and groups to play different types of repertoire and musical genre. Instruments: Violin Viola

Those who are new in playing the violin/viola for the first time, I would start addressing how to care and properly hold their instrument and get them familiarize with the essential elements boors book which has simple exercises and fun modern music at the same time, so the student can learn and also have fun! Those who have a little bit more experience than a beginner in playing the violin or viola, I would ask them to play a solo piece and a scale so I can start analyzing and start working in technique such as bow usage, bow hold word, hand frame, intonation, etc. Read More

I only want my students to have a positive experience when leaving our lesson. I am constantly letting them know what they've done well, along with what goals we need to work on. I focus on the sandwich method, which is one positive trait, something to work on, then another positive trait. Everyone is different, so their learning pace is different as well. I do expect them to put at least some effort in at home via practicing (although I know things come up sometimes), otherwise it would be hard to find progress when they haven't practiced what we were working on. Andy uses method books, but also sheet music of the student's favorite songs to balance technique with enjoyment. Due to my training in the Suzuki Violin Method, I often start my beginner students with Suzuki Book 1. However, I supplement this music with exercises found in other method books, as well as fun games and activities that help my younger students learn more about the violin. I believe that they should start learning to read music early on in their education, and will provide games and flashcards that the student can use in order to help develop this skill. Read More

Nothing is more rewarding than seeing one of my students develop a passion for music! Therefore, it's important that each student progresses at his or her own pace. I encourage this by setting realistic goals for my students at each lesson. Acknowledging accomplishments helps fuel a students desire to progress, and makes students eager to learn more. By trying to find out what inspires the student, I can successfully tailor my instruction to their wants and needs. Read More

As a strong believer of the KIPP mission and vision, I work hard to instill the truths spoken to me behind the process of getting to and through college, constantly reminded by the words of Marianne Williamson that “our greatest fear is not that we are inadequate, but that we are powerful beyond measure.” There are 2 things that I believe in regards to education: 1) All students can/will learn. 2) It is not whether or not you are smart, but rather HOW you are smart, citing Gardner's Theory of Intelligence. Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
