Although building technique and comfort are extremely important, I find that the most essential aspect of learning an instrument is to study the music that you love, and I'm definitely open to adding a bit of musical theory to every lesson if the student is interested. During that time, the children will occasionally play anything they wish to play that is interesting or fun to them.
