I've been playing the piano for 15 years as a church accompanist. I currently perform as a church accompanist at a church in Little Rock for 6 years. During summer 2012, I held a piano teaching internship at Rhythm 88 Music School in Little Rock, Arkansas. I performed at Carnegie Weill Hall with my friend, cellist Kyung-min Kang 2013 summer. As drum instructor, I taught beats, fills, song structure, technique, and kit-setup, to a group between the ages of 7 and 14 in the summer of 2016 with the "Girls Rock Camp Houston", a non-profit organization. I volunteered to an additional guidance position as a "Band Coach" in 2016 to a group of young teen students. I teach piano classically by reading music and patterns. As we progress, sometimes the student gets disinterested. At that point, I introduce the chord method as well as the number system- having them play certain progressions as I prompt them to play. My teaching experience dates back to my high school days. I taught private lessons to students at the middle school I attended so they would be prepared for what they'd have to do once they got to our level. As a senior in high school I aided the drumline at another local high school that had just opened. At the present time I am teaching musicians of all ages, ranging from the age of 6 to elderly adult. Before graduating from college, my passion for and knowledge of percussion created an opportunity for me to work for the North Forest Community All-Star Band Drumline and the North Forest High School Drumline. My starting point for my students is typically having them practice posture, hand position and proper mouthpiece placement. After this has been satisfied, I have the students blow using a breathing exercise. From this, I have the students play the first three notes out of their Habits of Good Musician Book 1. Students will continue in the book and proceed to their daily lesson exercises until they are ready to play other higher level music pieces. Read More
