I like to branch out students knowledge of musical genres and get them listening to new stuff. Typically though, I begin lessons with encouraging the student to work on a song they love and enjoy that inspires them to sing/play! I also have repertoire to suggest for different voice types and skill levels. I never want students to feel discouraged or give up, so I make sure feedback is constructive. Read More

For younger students I like the Alfreds method books . I also use the Piano Adventures books as well as Hal Leonard for adults. I like to combine what the student is looking for musically and build upon that while supplementing the method book. For younger students I tried to engage them by making the lesson fun. If an adult is interested in popular music I supplement the lesson with a method book that is geared toward popular music. Read More

I'm a driven music teacher with an unending curiousity and love of the musical mind. I graduated Ithaca College with a B.A. in music performance specializing in classical guitar. Originally from Boston, I moved to NYC in the summer of 2011 to pursue teaching and playing music professionally. Since then, I've acquired a decent roster of students and have been gigging fairly regularly with a number of different projects. I started playing piano at an early age and from there I've tried to keep the learning process going. Read More
Instruments: Piano Flute Recorder Piccolo
I began teaching while in college and have now been teaching for 11 years. My students have ranged in age from 3-60. Since getting my Suzuki Flute certification in 2008, I have found the Suzuki method a great way to start young beginners. In addition to giving private lessons, I taught group flute classes for 3 years with the Harmony Program My students are encouraged to participate in ensembles, competitions and recitals as having such goals is a great motivation for practice and musical growth.
