I'm a passionate and engaging music instructor who loves working with students and sharing my love of music. I've been teaching guitar, as well as beginner, piano and bass guitar lessons to students of all ages and skill levels for over a decade. I try to focus on teaching my students proper technique, knowledge of music theory, improvisation, and reading and writing skills. I like to give students the tools required to follow their own musical aspirations. Read More

I am an outstanding classical piano teacher with a vast teaching experience. I also play organ in church. I have been blessed with amazing students and I believe that anyone can learn to play an instrument even with serious medical disabilities. I have studied conducting, carillon and am an active vocal accompanist. I love keyboard skills such as sight-reading, transposition, orchestral score reading, figured bass, lead sheet and improvisation. I am proud of the fact that I passed the initial exam to serve in the USAF. Read More

One of the greatest sources of joy and exhilaration I have experienced throughout my teaching career occurs every time one of my students performs, and I get to witness the hard work and determination they have implanted into their playing. Every time they smile while playing their instrument is the single most rewarding feeling I have encountered in my years as a teacher, and I relish the opportunity to bask in that feeling every chance I get. Instruments: Piano Voice
My piano students generally start with Faber Piano Adventures. I assign them solo repertoire as they progress through each level in preparation for a recital performance. For the more advanced students, I introduce the fundamentals of playing jazz piano as well. I have my voice students sing through repertoire in the styles of their choice in order to have a better understanding of how their unique voice functions. While working on repertoire, I instill habits of healthy breathing and vocal production. Read More

For beginner students, I will usually start with the basic fundamentals of playing the instrument. This would include tone production, articulation, flexibility, scales, arpeggios, and sight reading. Once the student has become more fluent in the technique of their instrument I will start to ask them what they want to work on and improve upon. One method I truly believe in is playing duets with the student. The best way to improve at anything is to practice with someone who has more experience. Read More

I firmly believe that experiencing music and being inquisitive are invaluable to learning how to play music. Studying music is not just about learning the material and regurgitating it, but discovering why a moment of music is cool and examining what about that moment makes it hit you in the right spot. I will be the guide that the student needs when he or she does not know where to go with his or her studies, but I want to encourage students to bring in music they want to learn, or discuss music that they think is cool and use that as a jumping off point into our lessons. I've been teaching in the NYC area for the past 5+ years and during that time I've developed my pedagogy as well as my playing. I always am sure to point out the simple rule. During our lesson I am showing you how to play, the real work is done on their own time. I tell them that 15 minutes every day is better than an hour 1 day a week. Playing every day ensures that the material is always fresh in their head and they don't lose interest. Read More
