My teaching styles are ever-changing but first and foremost I strive to meet the student where they are at in their musical journey, work in small chunks and learn to love the act of learning. Timing, technique, tuning, dynamics, timbre, music theory, writing, recording, listening improvisation (and more) are all crucial to being a modern musician but the most important of these is fun. If you aren't enjoying my teaching then I am not doing my job correctly. Read More

My vision is to touch lives with the gift of music... I desire to share my passion for music with those who are music lovers and those who desire to play a musical instrument. I enjoy working with students and all audiences, but my reward comes when I can see the skills and talents of my students, progress and develop with a hope for them to become life-long musicians... For brass instrumental students, I generally use the Rubank Method books, focusing on care of the instrument and basic fundamentals. For piano students I use a variety of different method books and am not tied down to any one series. We will also work on scales and the Hannon series For vocal students, I use a series of vocalises, scales and other exercises to strengthen the voice. We will then work on repetroire focusing on what the student would sing at a recital performance. Read More

Preschool students: I use everything in my hands to help them to love music and enjoy it. We dance, we jump, sometimes we color ... anything that helps them learn. My class basically consists in developing in the little ones curiosity and musical taste. Through musical games and songs, the students will understand the basics of music theory, tone and rhythm. Also, some musical games that we will be doing will help each kid to improve his reading, writing, mathematical and other academic skills, as well as his ability to remember and memorize. Read More

Teaching Philosophy My role as instructor is rooted in strength and stability, and I attempt to create an environment in which the student feels safe to explore the depth and breadth of their capabilities. This is true whether in the classroom or the studio. I solidify my position with an in-depth knowledge of the material to be presented and with the expertise to demonstrate and cultivate certain aspects of vocal technique. Read More

For beginners, I typically start with Mayon Cole's EZ Keys for younger children (age 4.5 to 5), and I use manehune (age 6) or level one (age 7-10) or above for elementary school age children. Once the student has progressed and gain confidence in sight reading and rhythm/counting, I will then supplement the curriculum with solo repertoires from other piano curriculum such as Fabor/Fabor or Alfred series (Little Mozart). I also introduce chords playing for contemporary/praise music when the student is ready. Read More
