David G. is a passionate and dedicated music educator who loves inspiring students through joyful and meaningful music-making. A former U.S. Navy Musician (1995–2000), he gained valuable experience performing across the country and abroad, developing strong musical skills, discipline, and a deep appreciation for the power of music. After his military service, David earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education from Miami-Dade College, fueling his commitment to teaching and sharing his love of music with students of all ages. He strives to create a supportive learning environment where students develop confidence, creativity, strong technical skills, and a lifelong love of music. Blending real-world experience with a warm and encouraging teaching style, David works to ensure every student feels inspired, challenged, and excited to grow as a musician.
David’s teaching career began in Miami, FL, where he taught from 2000–2006 in various after-school music programs throughout Miami-Dade County, helping young musicians build a strong foundation in performance and music appreciation. In 2006, he relocated to Texas and continued his work as a music educator in La Marque City and the Houston area, where he has been teaching from 2006 to the present. In addition to classroom and community programs, David offers private instruction through online lessons, in-home sessions, and studio-based teaching, providing students with personalized guidance and flexible learning options tailored to their needs and goals.
For beginning students who are children, I start with Hal Leonard’s Essential Elements (or the Hal Leonard Guitar Method for guitar students) to build a strong foundation in reading music, proper technique, tone production, and fundamental skills. Once students have a solid grasp of the basics, I introduce age-appropriate solo repertoire to develop confidence and prepare them for their first recital performance. For adult learners, I tailor each lesson to their personal goals and musical interests—whether they are brand-new beginners, returning to music, or exploring a specific style. My approach keeps lessons engaging, enjoyable, and motivating for students of all ages and ability levels, helping them grow at a pace that feels rewarding and inspiring.
Nothing is more rewarding than seeing a student develop a true passion for music. I believe every student should grow at their own pace, so I set realistic, achievable goals at each lesson to support steady and enjoyable progress. Celebrating accomplishments—big or small—helps boost confidence and fuels their desire to learn more. I take time to understand what inspires each student so I can tailor my instruction to their individual needs, interests, and learning style. This personalized approach keeps lessons engaging, motivating, and meaningful, allowing students to enjoy the learning process while building strong musical skills and discipline. I strive to create a positive and encouraging environment where students feel comfortable expressing themselves, taking risks, and exploring creativity. My goal is not only to teach music, but to help students develop confidence, a strong work ethic, and a lifelong love and appreciation for music.
