Teaching Philosophy My role as instructor is rooted in strength and stability, and I attempt to create an environment in which the student feels safe to explore the depth and breadth of their capabilities. This is true whether in the classroom or the studio. I solidify my position with an in-depth knowledge of the material to be presented and with the expertise to demonstrate and cultivate certain aspects of vocal technique. Read More

Also, I often encourage them to listen to different recordings to let the style grow in their pursuit of music. Read More

I like to get an idea from the student and the parent what their expectations are for music lessons. From there, the student and I come up with musical goals to accomplish for that year. We create a practice schedule based on the student's school and extracurricular activities and try to follow that schedule as much as possible. I also like to incorporate other styles of music such as popular Broadway pieces and Contemporary pieces into the student's repertoire so that they can have greater diversity in their piano playing or singing. Every student is different.  The most important thing is for the student to get along with their instructor.  I am a patient and easy going person, but I also want discipline and excellence. I have over 15 years experience working with thousands of talented people, including talent featured on American Idol, The Voice, Disney, X-Factor, and major movies and tv shows. I enjoy kids and students of all ages that are enthusiastic about learning, and I want them to be extraordinary with their skills. Read More

I am full of energy and love learning as much as I can, but I also understand that full and in depth skill requires time and a certain level of patience and consistency. I relay this to students by repetition (specifically of principles), though I keep it fun and exciting by varying the application. Once the principle is fully grasped, we move on. I also give light, yet fun x22homeworkx22 assignments to keep the student engaged and thinking about music outside of the lesson. Read More
