I teach my students to keep a regular practice routine to keep them progressing smoothly and actively engaged. I like to motivate my students with little rewards like stickers and pencils to keep them encouraged and motivated too. I get to know my students and their musical interests to try to include music they really like to make it fun for them. I try to not make it too easy for them so that they don't lose their motivation, but not too hard so that they get overly frustrated and quit trying. Read More

For beginning students who are children, I typically use Blocki method or another outstanding flute teachers methodic. Usually, kids can't concentrate on something more than fifteen or twenty minutes, so I usually try to find different types of games or interesting stories about flutes, notes, etc. Also, they love to play songs from their favorite cartoons or movies. I started playing the saxophone at the age of seven. Having an incredible middle school band teacher, I was drawn to teaching at an early age. For younger students (under eight years old) I usually use the Alfred all in one book.. for older children, I use the Bastian set of four books: piano performance, technic and theory.
