This is where I was encouraged to experiment with the merging of music with other artforms. During her time here is where Maya was able to commission and collaborate with composer Christina George where they combined my two passions, flute and dance, to create and still and still, a work for flute, electronics, and dance, which was premiered at The Longy School of Music in April 2022. I have brought beginners who have never touched music before to work up to Bach and Vivaldi, as well as to their favorite classics like Fleetwood Mac. On the other hand, I have a high level of training and have coached young semi professionals before auditions and competitions to help fine tune their playing before the big day. I know what judge panels are looking for and this can be a helpful tool for a student trying to break into an academic or professional setting. Read More

I always encourage my students to find pieces that are their favorites that they would like to play, an extra motivation. Read More

In my lessons, I value both exploring self expression and introducing new concrete information in each lesson. Self expression can manifest in picking songs we learn, learning how to improvise, exploring dynamics and tone quality, song writing, and countless other ways! Play and performance are very important to the learning process and are great ways to explore the skills my students acquire. I always encourage my students to seek out performance opportunities, the world needs your voice! Read More
