I have taught all ages from 4 - 98. I emphasize a well-balanced diet of classical, popular, sacred, and jazz. Students' preferences are always taken into consideration. In addition, I provide students with a solid theoretical foundation. Concentration is upon functional theory that is applicable to where the student is in their music studies. Students are encouraged to explore their creativity whether it be improvisation on 12 bar blues patterns or composing in an ABA form. Ear training and music history are also included in lesson times. Sightreading is a vital part of our lesson times. Performance avenues are available to my students, whether it be festivals, auditions, recitals, or performances at local gatherings or retirement homes.

My favorite thing about teaching music is seeing my students connect with the instrument and come to life with their first song. While I am a big fan of theory and the science behind music we always start with trying to make music. I try to make the joy of music the only reward you will ever want from your lessons and practice time. Also, since I do play various instruments I try to incorporate other sounds into lessons as often as possible to help you keep an open perspective on the music world. Finally, as a writer/composer I always encourage the creation of new music so some lessons will be all about trying to play something brand new that you have never done before. Nothing is greater in music than being able to share something that you created though your own hard work and creativity!

My teaching experince dates back to 2009, as I began studying music in Atlanta and teaching part time to supplement my living expenses. Upon graduation, I started working full time with private lessons companies in the Atlanta area and have seen great success amongst my students. My experience has been with beginners all the way to advanced, professional players and I love the challenges of the entire spectrum. My entire philosophy is based around my student's interest and having fun is the key element to the process. I encourage all of my students to enter the live world of music via open mics and jams and I am happy to accompany when my schedule allows. We can practice in bedrooms and studios all day long but until one experinces the energy of performing live, then there is an enitre energetic aspect that is not being fullfilled.

It is important to me that my students enjoy the lessons and progress at their own speed. I want them to learn music that they enjoy.

Music has and is still a huge part of my life. It's one of two things that I feel is worth pursuing no matter the cost. I started my musical journey at the age of 8 playing drums. By the age of 16 I started playing piano/keyboard in church and learned by ear. At Marquette University and The Institute of Production and Recording I earned A's in all my music theory classes. With training and practice I became the musical director for the church I worked at in New York from 2013-2015. I also write and produce my own music which makes me expand my musical vocabulary and taste. I never stop learning and growing and look to instill that same quality in my students.
