My teaching experience began in 1980 at Russo Music in Trenton NJ. I have taught a range of students from beginners to professionals. Many of my former students have gone on to become professional musicians in their own right. How much time goes in to each category will depend on the student. With this in mind, each person's lesson is subjective and progresses according to the student's learning style; a beginning 5 yr old student's lesson will look much different that a beginning 14 yr old student's lesson. I believe that studying music has value far beyond simply learning an instrument. I hope that my students are inspired by music, and really feel the freedom to treat it as a creative outlet. Additionally, practicing consistently teaches discipline. Even for beginners, it is better to practice for 10 minutes every day than four hours once a week. I try to be as encouraging as possible, and will also provide opportunities for students to play with others or perform for friends/family. Read More
