I perform approximately 50 gigs per month on piano and flute as a soloist or duo with my husband (who is a teacher and performer on classical guitar, also in the Musika family). First I will assess each individual student based on their own skill level and requirements. In each lesson we will work on fundamentals of flute techniques, whether that is posture, embouchure, and/or finger techniques. In each of these lessons I hope to instill knowledge of music theory and history. We will learn many different styles of music ranging from the Baroque, Classical, Romantic, and 20th Century flute music. I studied transverse flute at Moravian College with Robin Kani from 1985-1992. From March 1996 to May 1997, I studied with Brooks De-Wetter Smith at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. I studied recorder for two semesters at Moravian College with professors Dr. Paul Larson and Dr. Larry Lipkis, composer in residence and performer with the Baltimore Consort. 1994 I began to teach privately. I have taught Suzuki flute Book one to beginners,from 1996-1997 in Chapel Hill, NC, and also at the Lehigh Conservatory from 1998-2002 I also teach intermediate to advanced level in flute and baroque recorder. Students who study with me drive their own education by making choices. You can choose Suzuki or traditional flute lessons. I began teaching as a young kid in middle and high school. I would give informal lessons to my peers, and this is what started my interest in teaching. I continued this path teaching classical flute and jazz improvisation to anyone who would listen to me!
