Overview:
I have been living my passion my entire life of teaching, playing and creating music. After living in NYC for the past 25 years i have relocated back to Pennsylvania to be with my Mother. I have been teaching for the past 30 years of my life and I love to watch a person grow with their instrument. I received a Bachelors in Performance from the University of the Arts and a Master in Music Education from Queens College. I have traveled throughout the country performing with my band. Besides my education and performance career I am an Arthur of a Children's book series called, "The Adventures of Fredi and her Lilypad Band."
EXPERIENCE
I started mentoring and teaching students when I was in high school. I have been very successful with preparing students for auditions and to get them to the next level with their performance. Many of my students have gone on to study at Manhattan School of Music, Juilliard Preparatory program and Laguardia High School. I have worked as a teaching artist with Brooklyn Conservatory, Midori and Friends, Harlem Children's Zone, Louis Armstrong Foundation, New York Pops, Harlem School of the Arts and Menchey's Music.
METHODS USED
My beginning students learn the fundamentals of their instrument. I want every student to get a well rounded education from me. Woodwinds students study from Essential Elements. Young piano students use the Faber collection and older students use the Bastien series for the Older Beginner. Practical Theory from Sandy Feldstein is used for instrumental students. Spike and Party Cat piano theory books is used for younger piano students. I encourage students to learn solo pieces and memorize scales so they can audition for various festivals. I have several play along books for woodwind students to experience playing with a jazz small group.
LESSON STYLE
I love to watch a student fall in love with music. It is very exciting to see the excitement of being able to accomplish a piece of music that they have worked on. I encourage students to find music that they want to learn and to open them up to different styles and history of where the music came from. I come from a classical / jazz background so i am very happy to teach any style that would excite a student. I suggest to students to listen to a piece of music that has been recorded from various musicians so they can have a sense of how they would like to perform a piece.

It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
