I began teaching as a music education major in college. I took a course titled The Art of Instrumental Techniques, in which I learned about how to lead instrumental rehearsals for large ensembles and individual lessons. I taught two flute students through this course, and that provided me with a solid assessment method that I use today. Later on, I student taught at an elementary school district. I have not yet started my teaching career but I am super excited to start gaining experience with all of you! I have taken a flute pedagogy class at my undergraduate, Gettysburg College and a woodwind and brass method class during my graduate studies at The Longy School of Music. I have much more experience performing and participating in summer flute masterclasses. I do hope to gain professional music performance experience by being in an orchestra, opera, or ballet, doing chamber music, and organizing small solo concerts. Read More

In order for students to be successful they need to be encouraged and challenged throughout their musical studies. In order to do this, it is important to focus on the fundamentals of the instrument, as well as music that peeks the interest of the student. I am enthusiastic about music and enjoy giving my students the tools they will need to achieve their dreams.  I don't believe I've taught two students in exactly the same way. I like to tailor my teaching for each individual I teach. I do keep in mind that some of my learners are more Visual learners, others more kinesthetic, and others more auditory.  I make use of their strengths to help them develop new musical skills.
