I began teaching as a music education major in college. I took a course titled The Art of Instrumental Techniques, in which I learned about how to lead instrumental rehearsals for large ensembles and individual lessons. I taught two flute students through this course, and that provided me with a solid assessment method that I use today. Later on, I student taught at an elementary school district. I am a Suzuki and traditional teacher. I encourage public performances as often as possible and will help students identify appropriate opportunities to do so. Students who study with me drive their own education by making choices. You can choose Suzuki or traditional flute lessons. You can choose to focus mainly on classical music, modern music, pop music, or jazz music as suits your tastes. I am a flutist, improviser, and composer with a bachelors degree in Jazz Flute Performance from the New England Conservatory of music. As a past member of the Philadelphia Youth Orchestra and a Bruce Montgomery Foundation Springboard Grant winner, I am experienced in classical competitions at the middle/high school level.
