All students will always have at least one piece that they have chosen to work on to keep interest while building skills. For adults I like to use Alfred's Basic Adult All-In-One Course. This has a site that can be accessed at home for extra help and accompaniments to play the songs learned. I add technique to adults to keep the fingers moving such as Hanon and Czerny. For beginning cello students of all ages, I normally use one of my teacher's method books: Cellocity by Helga Winold of Indiana University. As my cello students progress, I slowly introduce smaller pieces that can normally be found in Suzuki method books. After my cello students have advanced significantly, I begin to introduce more complex pieces that are found in the standard cello repertoire. These local children reminded me of myself when I was younger and strived to study music with a financially-difficult background. Helping these kids really was the highlight of my day as I could see how music has helped them grow. I will always feel grateful and excited to give back to my communities through what I do.
