As a teacher I offer a common sense approach to teachingall instrumentsto students of all ages. For students who are new to playing; I focus first on the mechanics of playing,getting their mind to respond to what the body to best of their ability. I focus on indvidualizing the lesson to the student. Every student has different goals, dreams, and personalities. I typically use the Faber Books for piano, Hal Leonard for guitar and ukulele, and I work in sight-reading with my voice students. I also work in music theory when appropriate, and enjoy explaining the "why" behind how music works. I'm also a singer-songwriter and have tunes on Spotify Apple Music. I began teaching private lessons in 2006 while working for Walt Disney World Entertainment in Orlando, Florida. I have maintained a studio of at least two students everywhere I have moved, and most recently taught music for a Montessori program and comnnnity college in the Virgin Islands. I build healthy, classically trained voices that are capable of stylizing to fit any genre; and being a composer myself, I teach piano from a musically interpretive viewpoint. Read More

I generally do not teach directly from a book. I only use them as guides. I always felt that was the lazy way of doing things. A book doesn't know the student. I find that students of any age, learn and adapt to teaching in different ways and speeds. I start from the very bottom and we build every lesson, using previous lessons as building blocks.
