I have been teaching for over 30 years, and I love working with children. Regular practice is important so that students can see progress and reap the rewards that come with it. I became pregnant and did not complete my MA but began teaching private piano lessons part time while raising my children. As I alluded to previously, I lean much more towards the traditional end of the spectrum in regards to teaching. That being said, I also make a concerted effort to make my piano lessons fun and engaging for the student. I have had the great fortune of getting to study the piano under some really kind and inspiring people, and I try to emulate them the best I can. I hold a Bachelor's degree in Vocal Performance (and a minor in dance) from Millikin University (Decatur, IL) and a Master's degree in Vocal Performance from Northern Illinois University (DeKalb, IL) where I focused on vocal pedagogy. During both my undergrad and graduate studies, I was active in the college choirs and opera productions.
