My students have gotten in to region, all-state, college music programs, prestigious summer festivals, and placed in national competitions. I've taught children with autism, ADHD, and dyslexia. I served as Band Leader (lead musician) at Destiny Metropolitan Worship Church, a 6,000 member congregation, in Atlanta for 6 years. My duties during that time included leading, teaching, and shepherding a 7 piece band through baptism, communion, regular services, funerals, weddings, early morning prayer, weekly rehearsals, special rehearsals, etc. My duties during the holiday season(s) inclusive of Christmas, Thanksgiving, and Easter also included providing musical accompaniment for plays, special selections, and more. My method of teaching puts emphasis on the keyboard fundamentals that develop sound piano technique. I use a systematic approach in which the student progresses from their present level, whatever it may be, beginner, intermediate, or advanced, to their next level in a reasonable time. For students at the beginning or intermediate-beginning levels, I would choose from the Faber, Albert, Leonard, or Thompson piano methods.  I always give the student after each lesson a method of practice for the music/lessons required. I have a collection of different books for children and for older students we can dive right in to a certain style. In high school I had the great privilege of being selected as the Principal clarinetist in the Minnesota All-State Band. We performed at the summer camp designed for these groups and recreated our performance at Orchestra Hall, home of the Minnesota Orchestra, the following spring. Clarinet is my primary instrument and first love. I also teach saxophone and beginning flute and hope to add other woodwinds in the future. During my college years, I was a scholarship singer at First Presbyterian Church, and a member of the Sam Houston State University Chorale. Past experiences include singing with the UTB/TSC Master chorale, with which he performed at the Texas Music Educators Association.
