I am a positive and encouraging instructor, and emphasize proper technique, music theory, and fundamentals through a variety of musical styles ranging from classical to popular music. My students are all ages (I once had a student start at the age of 70!) and come from a variety of backgrounds and experiences. I am currently a church organist and have been playing the organ since the age of 16 and piano since the age of 12. I have had many performance opportunities both as a pianist and as an organist performing as a soloist and as a collaborator. For beginning students who are children, I typically start with a method book in order to introduce finger numbers and good technique. We build more and more skills as time progresses. Depending on the student, we may depart from the method book and learn more substantial songs; I'm very good with adapting to the skill levels and strengths of each student. With older students, since they generally have a better feel for what songs/composers they like, I will give them more freedom to choose their own songs and work with them from there. Read More

I evaluate the students level, from there I make a step by step guide (of selected piece and etudes) to show the student their progress into the next level. I have almost 20 years of experience on the flute, including a bachelor's degree in Flute Performance from Olivet Nazarene University and a master's in music theory from the University of North Texas.
