I hold a Bachelor's degree in Vocal Performance (and a minor in dance) from Millikin University (Decatur, IL) and a Master's degree in Vocal Performance from Northern Illinois University (DeKalb, IL) where I focused on vocal pedagogy. During both my undergrad and graduate studies, I was active in the college choirs and opera productions. I became pregnant and did not complete my MA but began teaching private piano lessons part time while raising my children. As the needs of my family changed I began working with children in other ways such as coaching ball teams. Learning how to play the piano is about so much more than just the piano! The benefits reach far beyond music, helping them with school, self-confidence, and many other aspects in their everyday life. I was introduced to music early on by my parents. Being classically trained on the piano I started playing and writing songs at the tender age of seven. My early piano influences are Mozart, Beethoven and Gershwin amongst others. Growing up, I became even more influenced by Pop, R&B, Funk, and Rock artists from the likes of  Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson and Prince.
