I gained the degree of doctor of musical arts in clarinet performance and pedagogy from the University of Colorado at Boulder, held a position at Aletheia University for 16 years, and have more than 30 years of experience in teaching students at all ages and levels. During my college years, I have studied children's development and psychology and had research and speech on four Music systems in the world. Besides teaching clarinet, piano, and saxophone, I also have experience in Orff, which is an education system to help children learn music in life. Over the years, I hold many solos, chamber recitals, and also conduct a clarinet ensemble, and have been performing in Taiwan, Japan, Mainland China, and the States. I am a member of TMEA. Dolce Music Institute is the music facility I founded over the years. With qualified teachers (who obtained Doctorate, Master's degree), we are to provide better music education to you and your loved ones.
I've been teaching in the university for 16 years, along with the students from kindergarten to adults, leading a clarinet ensemble, performing throughout Taiwan and China, accompanying vocals in the competitions, playing piano in the church, arranging music, publishing and recording CDs for voice, instruments, and piano. I have been teaching at Frisco, Allen, Lovejoy, Little Elm, Carrollton ISDs, and the area. The students gain the honor of All-State, All-Area, All-Region, and many achievements on Solo and Ensemble Competitions. Students have a great harvest in applying to music college. The teachers at Dolce Music Institute help students advance school audition and All-State/All-Region/All-Region, and Royal Conservatory Examinations.
For the beginners, hold a correct gesture, good hand position, or firm embouchure, and air support are some of the main requirements. When the students start to learn, adding up more etude books, like Rubank Method, Rose Etude, Kell, Thompson, Byer, Just the Fact, Sonata, Concertos, Etudes...., and music from different genre would be presented at different timings. During the lessons, fine hand positions, great tone quality, good embouchure, fine posture and position would be the fundamental requirements and will be reminded at all time. Making progress in technique, playing habit, and also looking for fun in playing are what we will have between start and end of the lessons.
Understanding the student's interest would be my priority goal. Helping students not just playing the instrument, but also loving it, so they will cherish the time with their instruments. Having fun while learning music is always my target in teaching music. Students and parents are welcome to provide the music they would love to learn. That should keep their attention in having fun. At the same time, other-focused material would be assigned, so the students will maintain a great foundation in playing music. We devote ourselves to providing the best teaching quality and friendly environment at Dolce Music Institute. It is our goal to make the students happy and also maintain a productive learning process.
