I'm a professional jazz drummer, composer and educator. I'm originally from Venezuela and currently living in New York City. I attended to The Collective School of Music and The City College of New York where I earned, with honors, a Bachelor degree in Jazz Performance. I have studied with great players such as Kim Plainfield, Peter Retzlaff, Adam Cruz, Mark Ferber, Kendrick Scott and pianist and arranger Mike Holober. I've toured and recorded with some of the most renown venezuelan jazz and pop artists such as: Pablo Gil, Alfredo Naranjo, Leo Blanco, Laurent Lecuyer, Oscar Fanega, Virginia Ramirez, Nuevas Almas Ensemble, Movida Acustica Urbana (MAU), Luca Vicenzetti, Tumbador, among many others. Born in South Africa and raised in Oxford, UK, I began my career as a professional touring and recording musician at the age of sixteen. As a member of the band Stornoway, I had the incredible privilege of touring the world and playing some of it’s most renowned stages, performing live on the UK’s biggest music television program, “Later...with Jools Holland”, alongside Jay Z, Foo Fighters, Norah Jones, and Sting, recording live sessions in the infamous Abbey Road studios for mainstream BBC Radio programs, being interviewed by top music journalists as well as performing on some of the BBC’s main prime-time radio and television political programs including Andrew Marr’s talk-show, and receiving a silver record from BMI for record sales - all before the age of 25. I am a young and passionate percussionist who loves being involved in music performance and education. I received my Bachelor of Music in Music Education from LIU Post in 2013, and will be finished my Master of Arts in Music Education from Hofstra University in 2017. I have had many great performance opportunities that include two performances in Carnegie Hall and other smaller venues around the country.
