Upon graduating the Conservatory in the spring of 2014 I remained in the greater Boston area until the summer of 2018, during which time I both remained active in the creative music scene as a performer and became busy working and teaching. Over those years, I was a part of the bands Aykroyd, Letter Castle, Particulars, Ryan Power, Los Greys, Every Kim Parcell, Listening Woman, and Creative Healing, among others. For beginning students, I start with a method book that provides them with both aural, visual, and kinesthetic instruction. In addition, I work with my students to develop a curriculum that is high individualized and caters to their needs and, more importantly, their interests. For intermediate and advanced students, I focus on repertoire, etudes, and coordination studies, in order to build technique while learning the standard repertoire pieces. If you are more interested in building a technique playing we can get very methodical studying from the books but if you really want to play, we are gonna play! A big part of my teaching is playing with the students or creating sequences (play alongs) so the student practices music in context. My teaching experience began after I graduated from college 5 years ago. I discovered a talented young drummer while working at a music store, cultivating and channeling his talent. I like to take the time and learn from my students what inspired them to want to learn drums, and what they wish to learn from the lessons.
