Beyond my extensive experience as a professional in the Music Industry, I have held positions in a diverse range of teaching situations beyond private instruction. I was most recently employed as a Lead Music Teacher for Success Academy Charter Schools and worked full-time at an Elementary School in the South Bronx. I am an active performer and educator in the NYC area. I graduated Cum Lade from The City College of NY and received a Bachelors degree of fine arts in Jazz performance. I love sharing my enthusiasm for life and music and teaching is my way to give back to future generations who will shape society and culture. After moving to study at the Conservatory of Amsterdam (NL) at 18, I quickly started to be part of a more intrnational scene, and by the time I got a scholarship to pursue my second Master degree at Manhattan School of Music in New York, I was already starting playing with some of the most prominent names of the music scene. Depending on the level and specific interests of the student, I garner my curriculum towards their needs. For beginners, I start with Alfred's beginning drum method, and as they progress I incorporate my own additions to the material, as well as digging into the interests of the student. I am big on sharing recordings with students and introducing them to worlds of music they have likely not heard before. Depending on which areas the student naturally gravitates towards, I adjust the amount of time I spend on different areas, while never compromising the fundamentals of learning an instrument.
