Our music lesson students will have the opportunity to take lessons from the comfort of their own home or in one of the teachers studios. Careful attention is placed on each student to ensure a custom lesson plan. Our music teachers understand that every student has different needs and abilities and therefore the lessons will be planned with that knowledge in mind.

Instruments: Piano, Voice
I always start with applicable musical theory to help the student understand the basics of piano and what are the proper techniques to play the instrument. The same applies to voice lessons. After a student is able to read music on the basic level and knows the placement of notes on the scale, we proceed to the basic repertoire and practice. Each student is individual, so based on the pace I create a schedule, which always includes implementing the learnt material more and more, so that student can perform basics automatically correct. For beginning students I typically start with breathing techniques and an explanation of the anatomy of the instrument. Vocal warm ups according to the skill level will be in every lesson, as well as repertoire. I always find out what the student is interested in, and work accordingly to keep it interesting and fun. Hi! I am a voice and piano teacher. I am originally from CA and moved to NY to complete my degree in music education at Hofstra University. After I graduated, I stayed to complete my masters degree at Teachers College, Columbia University. My primary instrument is voice, secondary piano. I have also found that a combination of classical and modern music can go a long way in helping students to enjoy his or her instrument and to motivate them to practice and continue to learn. Originally from Utica, NY, and a proud member of Actors Equity Association, soprano Katie has delighted audiences with her strong stage presence and beautiful voice. Ms. Horn was seen this spring as Mrs. McBee in The Growing Stages Theater production of The Diary of a Worm. Before that she had the leading soprano role in The Chatham Theater Companys original show, Grandmas House for Christmas. Prior to that, Ms. Horn was in The Summer Theater of New Cannans performance of Carousel as Nettie Fowler (US), Isabel in The Theater Company of NJs, Pirates of Penzance, performed opera outreach with Opera Theater of Connecticut and made her debut at The Chatham Theater Company as the title role in, A Wee bit of the Irish.
