I believe that while there are certain immutable principles to how the voice functions, these principles need to be tailored to the particular instrument each student has as well as their nature, and how they wish to express themselves musically. Additionally much of the student teacher dynamic is based on a common vocabulary. Because we are dealing with an instrument that is inside the body it is impossible to point to this string or that key with precision. Read More

Hi! I am an internationally acclaimed performer and teacher. I have the privilege of performing all over the world as a Conductor, Organist and Pianist. I am a huge believer in the power of music to change the world. I work in Haiti every year helping the National Orchestra players as well as present an Annual Children's Benefit in NY every year to help at risk kids. I have a Doctorate from the prestigious Manhattan School of Music in New York City where I was a Professor for many years. Read More

I’m a singing teacher who is passionate about helping my students find their voice and tell their own personal stories in the songs we work on. Some become professional singers/songwriters if that is their goal. Some are accepted into college music programs. After two years as a Musical Theater major at Tisch School of the Arts, I graduated from New York University’s Gallatin Independent Study program, merging my wider interests in Classic Texts, Science, and Writing while continuing to study singing privately in NYC. My experience with teaching started when I was completing my Bachelors degree. I taught both privately from my own home studio as well as a contracted teaching artist at several music schools. For me, teaching has always been one of my biggest passions. I enjoy creating an environment where students can not only grow and develop their skills but also explore the different nuances in music. One thing that is very important to me as a teacher is encouraging students to be consistent in their practice time. Read More

I graduated from SUNY Purchase where I received my Bachelor's in Music Composition. I've performed all over the country with my original indie folk songs, mainly focusing my touring efforts on the SouthEast over the past few years. I've also worked with children in various settings for the past 15 years. I've worked in daycare, pre-K, have babysat, and have led my own original Music and Movement classes for 3-5 year olds. I've taught for more than 6 years and I've worked with students of all age groups with a diverse range of experience. Having a classical technique is always beneficial for a clean sound. Most of the things we hear on the radio are filtered and shouldn't be forced out! I have worked with a wide range of stylistic choices and would love to assist students in exploring their capabilities. Being a performer myself, I ensure that the students are having fun and are ready to sing whenever and wherever! Read More

I typically use the Alfred books for young beginning students. In these books, children learn the geography of the keyboard and learn about the contours of musical notation and by the end are using both hands. For adults, as well as intermediate children and up, I prefer the Michael Aaron series for intermediate and beyond. For beginning adults I use the Aaron Musical Primer. I also use the Aaron Technic for advanced performers. Read More
