My mother influenced my life as a musician. In 1969 she encouraged me to audition for the Newark Boys Chorus. I auditioned. I was accepted and sang in choir-school for three years, singing music from Renaissance to R&B. In 1980 I received a BM and MMT from Oberlin Conservatory. At Oberlin I met three great teachers who encouraged me to sing professionally. I pursued the career! I can teach classical music and technicality, to jazz songs and improvisation, to songwriting and pop/folk oriented style of playing. Nothing is more rewarding than seeing one of my students develop a passion for music! It is important that each student progresses at their own pace. I encourage this by setting realistic goals for my students at each lesson, acknowledging accomplishments, fueling a students desire to progress, and finding ways to stimulate a students desire to learn more. My faculty positions at the Manhattan School of Music Pre-College and Concordia College of Music involved preparing many teenagers and undergrad level singers for performing careers, and I have a solid reputation for my Westchester studio that is always full of singers of all ages.
