I graduated with my Bacholers in Music and Pyschology with a focus on opera voice in 2009. In my performance program I really grew as a vocalist and learned how to overcome my own obstacles and improve my vocal technique for myself. I feel confident now in sharing my experience and my education with my students so they are able to really grow and improve as well. I have a set of vocalises that I have comprised throughout the years. They begin with simple breathing exercises and hums to enable the student to connect to their breath, and move to more intricate scales and arpeggios to develop a strong, even tone. I choose repertoire that students truly enjoy to sing, as I have found that they will make great progress while practicing a song they love. I love seeing my students develop a passion for music! That is why I make sure each student progresses at their own pace by setting realistic goals for each lesson. I always acknowledge a student when they practice very hard and ask great questions. I don’t believe one method fits all! I believe each person is an individual, so students should be taught as who they are with their own pace. I emphasize on communication, motivation, and patience for both piano and singing. Basically these 3 elements are missing in our society, especially young students. Everything is being promoted as “Express Way” now as learning process without the middle part, but this won’t work for piano or singing. Read More
