In college, I started giving out lessons to Music Education friends who were learning trumpet for their brass profiency. I also gave some lessons to a friend who had no prior brass experience, and that experience was the main point in how I developed my beginner lessons. I taught at The University of Cape Town as a lecture in Jazz vocal studies from 2004. I was involved in The Artscape Youth Jazz Program as a mentor for several years as well as a performer and lecturer for several years at The National Arts Festival/ Grahamstown Jazz festival in South Africa. I have also taught at the summer jazz camp program in Prague for the past 5 years. I began teaching in my undergrad to help pay living expenses and have been teaching ever since in private studio, public schools, and private music schools. In total I have taught for eight years and change. I strongly encourage my students to perform in public and play music with others as much as possible.
