While Joey loves to preform, he is passionate about teaching. He has been teaching since 2011. His teaching career began through the non-profit Bravo Waukegan in their Bravo Buddies Summer Camp. Instruments: Trumpet
I have been teaching trumpet since 2008 where I have been giving private, in home instruction. All of my students take part in the NYSSMA festival and annually score at the top of their class. Some students have made it into the SCMEA, NYSCAME, and All-State Festivals. I am a trained classical trumpeter and I am proficient on the Bb, C, Eb, A piccolo, G Bugle, and Flugelhorn trumpets. As a freelance musician in the tri-state area I play in a variety of ensembles which include: swing bands, symphonic orchestras, musicals, operas, parade bands, and various community bands. Read More

I believe that a judgement-free, cooperative lesson atmosphere is crucial to a student's success! Violinists and violists are often taught according to a traditional teaching method that is too rigid and outdated. I usually make a list of areas of focus for each lesson, and encourage my students to keep a practice journal. Read More

I welcome all ages and all types of adventures! I have early education experience, special education experience, undergraduate and graduate college teaching, as well as classroom teaching experience. We will find a teaching style that is tailored specifically to each student's needs. Every person has artistic talents! However, it is up to the teacher to find those talents, and nurture them. While practice helps, practice never makes perfect... it makes permanent. Read More
Instruments: Guitar
My teaching style varies from student to student. Playing the guitar is the most fun I have at any point during the day and thats what I want to impart to the student. Fun! I also belove in repetition. Playing scales over and over by yourself, sometimes, isnt so much fun so while i will have a strict regimen of practice it will be structured in an interesting and enjoyable format for both the student and whomever happens to be around, listening! They are equally important. When voice students can sing with good breath support, they can sing any songs they like. I give many good exercises to improve their support without using the voice, so they can do those simple exercises at anytime. Learning singing is the best way to learn about ourselves, because the instrument is inside our bodies. How we feel physically and mentally will show in our singing. Read More
