Hello! I am a professional musical theater actress working in New York City. Whether you want to improve your voice for musical theater, pop/rock performances, auditions, school/church choir and ensembles, or just for fun - I will cater to your individual and unique needs as a performer! I have been a private vocal coach, along with teaching beginner piano and guitar for 5 years, and I love helping students access their true potential as vocalists. I graduated with my Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Musical Theater from the prestigious College Conservatory of Music at The University of Cincinnati (CCM) in 2016. CCM is the oldest Musical Theater program in the United States, with dozens of students working on Broadway. While pursuing my career on the stage, I have spent the past 5 years teaching private vocal coaching lessons primarily to children 8-18. I would love to help you or your child build confidence in their individual abilities, develop technique and range, and choose songs and repertoire unique to them.
My recent professional theater credits include: GYPSY (Louise) at The Covedale Center for the Arts (Nomination from The League of Cincinnati Theater for BEST ACTRESS), Title Role in MARY POPPINS at The Renaissance Theater, BRIGADOON (u/s Fiona) and THE DROWSY CHAPERONE at The Wick Theater, and Ensemble roles in SOME PEOPLE HEAR THUNDER (The Capital Repertory Theater) and MAMMA MIA (Theatre Aspen). In New York City, I was recently seen at The New York Theatre Festival in LET THERE BE LIGHT as a principal role and The New York Musical Festival as a featured vocalist. My students primarily are musical theater based, and have gone onto successfully audition for professional productions and arts programs/colleges. I also enjoy teaching students who wants to progress to high level school and church choir positions, as well as pop/rock students who write music and want to sing for fun!
I begin assessing where the student's current level is by having them sing a song of their choice for me. Depending on what we need to work, I will spend the lessons focusing on certain areas to improve (e.g. breath support, jaw/neck tension, posture, pitch, range, diction, phrasing, etc.). Each week, the student will be assigned things to work on during the week that we accomplished in the lesson. I will assign additional songs, as the student needs. We will build a nice repertoire of material they can choose from for whatever their needs are.
I'm a fun and upbeat female in my twenties! I enjoy having fun with my students and making them feel comfortable and able to be themselves! I think true improvement is only made when this is accomplished. I am passionate about encouragement, and making sure the student feels confident in their strengths before helping them attack their weaknesses. I like learning about a student's personality and learning style, and cater to their individual needs. I want to teach students songs that inspire them and songs they enjoy; there are goals to be set and things to learn from any style song.
