I taught at The University of Cape Town as a lecture in Jazz vocal studies from 2004. I was involved in The Artscape Youth Jazz Program as a mentor for several years as well as a performer and lecturer for several years at The National Arts Festival/ Grahamstown Jazz festival in South Africa. I have also taught at the summer jazz camp program in Prague for the past 5 years. I am a NYC-based humanitarian filmmaker, dancer, musician, carpenter and teacher. I speak English, German, Catalan, and I can get by in Spanish. A dual Austrian/American citizen, I am authorized to work in the United States. From kindergarten to high school, I attended a Rudolph Steiner school, which laid my foundations in art, music and carpentry. All levels of voice are welcome in my studio! For beginners I generally begin with giving the basics of how the voice functions and focus on breathing for singing. Then we ease into vocal exercises. After the first few lessons we move on to singing a simple song. I encourage the student to bring in music they like and would like to sing. I begin teaching every student with the same vocal exercises to strengthen the voice and then we discuss different styles and how the voice can change stylistically but not technically. Read More
