I have my own method of teaching which has worked for every student I have had.  For piano, I begin teaching basic music theory and sight reading from the very first lesson. I typically use "Piano Adventures" method books as a baseline, but tailor the lessons to each student's needs.  For voice, I use a mix of karaoke tracks and light piano accompaniment to help the students learn to sing on their own. I started teaching right after high school, helping at band camps and during the season. I started giving lessons soon after and in 2007 I was offered the oppurtunity to be the drumline instructor for a local high school. I would teach there until 2012. I wrote exercises, cadences, their show music, and taught them all the fundementals of marching and proper playing technique.
