Overview:

My passion is to teach music. I have been teaching for several years, of all ages. Since I was a young child, I have always loved music. My music journey started when I was 12 years old and I joined the orchestra class in my middle school. I was immediately drawn to the violin, the sounds of the strings, and I knew when I drew the bow across the A-string that I would play violin for the rest of my life. Since then, I have never stopped playing. I have played in community orchestras in Broward County such as the Gold Coast Youth Orchestra, Florida Youth Orchestra, and All-County Silver & Gold Broward Orchestras for 5 years. From 2015-2016, I attended Coral Glades High School, where I became the youngest concertmaster in the orchestra as a freshman, and started teaching orchestra students as a freshman. I led the Coral Glades Symphony as concertmaster to receive Superior ratings from all the judges for Broward County String & Ensemble for the first time in the school’s history! That was a major accomplishment for me and it showed me that I have the skills and passion to be a music teacher. I auditioned to be in the orchestra program for a performing arts high school and from 2016-2017, I attended performing arts high school, Dillard High in Fort Lauderdale. During my time at Dillard, I worked on solo pieces, orchestral works, and worked alongside the orchestra director to teach beginner orchestra classes to young students during school hours, and after school. During my time teaching at Dillard as a student myself, it was then that I realized that I am really passionate about teaching music. In 2019, I began my college journey at Florida International University and became a Communications major; however, I did not want to stop studying the violin. So, I started studying with Juilliard Graduate and one of the original members of the Amernet String Quartet, Professor Marcia Littley, to continue my violin studies and pursue my minor in Music. Marcia Littley is one of my major inspirations to why I want to become a music teacher. Not only because of WHAT she taught me, but HOW she taught me. My goal as a teacher is to make sure that when students have lessons with me, that it becomes their safe-space to learn and to grow. Something I always teach my students is that in life, you NEVER stop learning. I strongly believe that my calling in life is to teach the violin to students of ALL ages, ALL backgrounds, and to make sure that every single student believes with all of their heart that they CAN do it, no matter what. If you believe it, you can achieve it!

EXPERIENCE

I truly feel that the most fulfilling thing for me to do in my life is to teach music and instill the belief in every student that they can become the best musician they can be. My teaching experience, goes back a decade ago, when I was a student myself. As time went on, I dedicated myself to practicing every day and I became really advanced in a short period of time. When I was a freshman in high school, I was leading the orchestra classes, and preparing the high school symphony for performances. During my time at Dillard center for the performing arts high school, I would volunteer as an after school violin teacher and teach the beginner students to help them read music, and with their technique. I currently teach students of ALL ages, and I also teach students with Special needs such as ADHD, Anxiety, and autism. Having years of experience as a student myself, I know the challenges of learning a difficult instrument like the violin and the anxiety of going to see a new teacher. Everyone learns differently. Some students learn visually, some learn with drawing it out, interactive activities, interactive games. I teach each of my students according to how they learn. Each lesson with me as your violin/viola instructor will always be different and you will leave the lesson learning many new things. I am here for YOU, the students. The students make teaching music the best thing in all the world. It is what I love to do. Because of my years of experiences with having many different teachers teach me different training techniques, I have developed incredible, worthwhile, effective, and incredible techniques, methods, and skills with building your bow hold, left hand, bow arm, shifting, vibrato, and more that will help students improve in a matter of weeks, instead of months.

METHODS USED

For beginning students, especially young children, I always use the Hal Leonard's Essential Elements Books 1-3. After some time, when the student has more of a grasp on the fundamentals and reading music, then I will bring in some basic solo repertoire and music of their choice (Disney, Star Wars, etc.) to inspire them to continue and feel motivated to learn. Then, the Wohlfahrt etude book will be introduced as a daily practice for left hand technique. For adults, I would still use Essential Elements because it does help with reading music, basic violin technique, bow hold, etc. Suzuki is a must because Suzuki is the best! I learned all of the books, and Suzuki's learning methods helps so much! As time progresses, solo repertoire will be introduced and the student will begin learning from Wohlfahrt etude book. Remember, with anything great it takes time. Practice makes PROGRESS!

LESSON STYLE

Out of all of the things in the world, nothing is more amazing, then when I witness my students develop a true passion for music. Music comes from within. When you play something you love, it is no longer the black notes and lines on the page, but becomes so much more when it comes from your heart. When I see a student accomplish a goal they set for themselves, it makes me feel so wonderful to witness them accomplish their goal. I always acknowledge accomplishments to my students because it is important for their progress. Students are eager to learn more when they are in a comfortable, calm, and positive environment. When taking lessons with me, your stress, anxiety, and nervousness will vanish because taking lessons with me is fun and positive!
