For beginning students who are children, I typically start with John Thompson's The Easiest Piano Course, Part1 and I always try to reach Part 4 with the student. After 6 mounts of having lessons with the same kids I am offering them to perform in front of there parents, friends and neighbors. I am a creative, passionate trombonist, composer, arranger, and teacher who enjoys just about any aspect of music. I graduated from Stetson University in 2014 with a Bachelor of Music in Trombone Performance, and was recently accepted to the University of Central Florida's Master of Arts program, focusing on trombone performance and music theory. So far, I have performed on alto, tenor, or bass trombone in Florida All-State orchestras, the 2007 Honor Orchestra of America, and nearly every possible large and small ensemble at Stetson University, as well as with the Youth Brass Band of Central Florida and the Southern Winds. I love to see my students gain excitement to their playing as they see themselves progressing. I plan my assignments based on the students desire to improve. I started teaching right after high school, helping at band camps and during the season. I started giving lessons soon after and in 2007 I was offered the oppurtunity to be the drumline instructor for a local high school. I would teach there until 2012. I wrote exercises, cadences, their show music, and taught them all the fundementals of marching and proper playing technique. As for method books for young students, it depends on their strengths and needs which I assess in the first lesson. From that assessment, I assign a methods book that best fits them.
