I strongly believe that everyone can learn to sing as long as they desire to learn and are willing to practice. I enjoy working with students of all ages and abilities, and pride myself on being able to teach pretty much anyone and everyone. I begin all students with the same fundamentals: a healthy, natural, honest voice centered on the breath and not forced into any specific mold. My goal is to get you to not need me as quickly as possible. Every singer needs not one, but multiple coaches over their lifetime. While you may have 1 main coach, many Vocalist find the best way to not plateau in their development is to work with several coaches to keep improving. My teaching style is a light. I need a student to be in a positive mood in order to have a good voice. In each lesson I inspire the student, I give them the opportunity to sing what they want. I give instructions about what can help to put the voice in right position and to singing freely. For piano I prefer Faber Piano Adventures and have different books I would recommend starting with depending on the students age and experience. For guitar and ukulele I prefer using the Hal Leonard method books. I often supplement these method books with outside sources and pieces as is appropriate for the student. For singing students, I have a wide variety of books and resources depending on the musical style. I come from a classical voice background, so when students are middle school age and older (sometimes earlier) we begin learning Italian Art songs in addition to musical theater pieces and English folk songs.
