The student will learn how to properly excersize the correct muscles when singing, and then will vocalize with the piano. We must start with pitch! I started teaching when I was in high school, I began by teaching young students ranging from 5 years old to teenagers. As I started attending college, my students' age spectrum expanded into adults and even seniors. Through these experiences, I have learned to mold my teaching skills according to the students' needs and cater an enjoyable, and yet, challenging lesson. My first job late in high school was to Lifeguard, and teach swim lessons. I also taught sports on weekends. I've worked with kids ranging from 6 months to 17, and also have worked with adults, and people with disabilities. I continued to teach, and work with kids for several years following. My lessons typically start with stretching and breathing exercises and then transition to vocal exercises. The vocal exercises serve to strengthen their technique and solidify skills needed to tackle their song. I always ask my students what kind of music they are interested in and find songs to work on that will help strengthen their voice, but also connect with their soul. Nothing is more rewarding than seeing one of my students develop a passion for singing! Therefore, it's important that each student progresses at his or her own pace. I try to set realistic goals for my students at each lesson. By trying to find out what inspires the student, I can successfully tailor my instruction to their wants and needs!I encourage my students to practice at least 15 minutes per day and I continually each student new materials to practice( which is age appropriate.) My teaching method always includes at least one Broadway musical piece and one monologue for them to learn in case they need an audition piece. Read More
