I start my lessons with asking the student to give me their top 10 favorites songs that they would like to learn and based on their level I will select one song to start. I start with the essential elements of theory and basic chords. Once the student has progressed I will beging to introduce different styles of music to find out what the student is interested in, and build a lesson's plan designed specifically fot the student and keeping the motivation and fun classes regardless of their ability level. I always incorporate music theory into my lessons but it depends more of what kind of student are you? What kind of music do you want to play? For beginning students who are children, I typically start with Hal Leonard's Guitar for Kids and Bass for Kids methods. At the same time, I assign exercises that will help develop the students technique. Once the student has progressed to have a grasp of the fundamentals, I will begin to introduce solo repertoire appropriate for their first recital performance. I try to find out what kind of music the student is interested in, and guide my instruction to keep the lessons interesting and engaging. Read More

My teaching can be broken up into two columns: the craftsman and the artist. The craftsman column is all about chords, scales, and technique. The artist column is all about musicality and expression. I believe that learning through songs you love is one of the best and most fun methods of learning and understanding an instrument. The musical devices that are used in all your favorite songs are universal to music, so you'll be learning techniques just by playing along to your favorite songs! Read More

I try to create a relaxed, fun, trustworthy and focused, environment for the student. I like to ask them what’s interesting and appealing to them, then we start the lesson. When I teach at my studio and children come directly from school I give them a snack if they haven’t had any. Children cannot concentrate if they are hungry. We play musical games for the younger ones, so they can internalize either the beats or the values of the notation. Read More

I've had the experience and privilege of teaching students ranging from 5 years olds to adults in their 60's during the past 7 years. The core philosophy of teaching music lessons for me is that inspiration and motivation in a music lesson come from finding enjoyment and reward from the learning process. I've worked with students to develop better sight-reading skills, performance etiquette, improvisation, recording techniques, proper form, and posture, and marketing strategies, to help get your music heard when you feel ready and proud enough to share it with others. Music has been my passion from a very early age. I have learned through my years as an educator that sharing this passion with others is just as rewarding as personal experience or success. I greatly enjoy performing as much as I can myself but helping students achieve their own personal musical goals has become one of the most enjoyable experiences of my life. I look forward to meeting new students and learning about their passions and goals so that I can help them find the most rewarding path possible! Read More
