My general philosophy in music teaching is to ensure that the student, regardless of background and ability, learns something from music aside from performance skills. I have a natural innate ability to teach and to help students to understand the joy of playing the guitar. My motivation and passion is the love of teaching. I love it when my students have an “aha” moment of sudden insight or discovery about the guitar. I am very patient and encouraging with instruction toward students, never causing them to feel unaccepted or discouraged. I continually create an attitude of unconditional positive regard toward their lessons and their ability to be successful. Read More

My methods are based on life experience from studying with different teachers through out my career and being an AMDA graduate. I am very old school, meaning I expect them to memorize lyrics and lines, and understand what they are saying and why. I approach teaching as a teacher who still performs, and learned by doing it. I like the student to be old enough to read. I also encourage to tape their lesson for home study. Read More

I began teaching voice over 5 years ago and have maintained a studio of singers varying in vocal style, age, and skill level. Each one has brought new challenges to me as a teacher and helped me home in on my teaching style and methods. If my students don't feel encouraged, practice on their own, or aren't having fun in lessons then I am not doing my job correctly! I love when students find songs they are passionate about singing and working on them together to make them the best possible product to present. Read More

Nothing is more rewarding than seeing one of my students develop a passion for music. It's important that each of my students progress at his or her own pace. I encourage this by setting realistic goals for my students at each lesson. Acknowledging accomplishments helps fuel a students desire to progress, and makes students eager to learn more. By trying to find out what inspires the student, I can successfully tailor my instruction to their wants and needs. Read More
