For beginning students who are children, I typically start with Hal Leonard's Essential Elements, Suzuki method and music theory combined. Once the student has progressed to have a grasp of the fundamentals, I will begin to introduce solo repertoire appropriate for their first recital performance. My teaching style depends on my student. If I have kids taking lessons, I keep the lessons fun and exciting, and make sure to include musical games to play that will allow the student to develop good aural and vocal skills. When it comes to adult students, I try to figure out their most efficient way of learning (kinesthetic, analytical, etc.) and cater to that. I have also studied piano, strings, voice for over 2 decades.
