Beginner students of any age will be playing music with the band during the first lesson!   Although my curriculum is deep-seated in good technique, I believe it is important for students to develop fluidity and expressiveness from the very beginning.  I am an accomplished keyboard player and utilize this skill to accompany my drum set students while they play grooves and lesson exercises so they can understand how it all "goes together". Piano students will also learn basic rhythm comping skills and learn what it's like to play in a rhythm section while I accompany them on drum set.  I have my lesson booklet available for purchase in which each student can design their own curriculum to meet their goals.  I also recommend additional books for each student as they develop more specific interests and needs. Piano/keyboard students will learn all scales/ chord progressions, soloing ideas and work out of a fake book.  If the student desires to stick to classical or is just beginning, we will choose a lesson program that best suits their needs.

My philosophy for music, education and life is that no two people are alike and therefore no two lessons can be alike. While I do have certain books that I like to use as a guide line I try to personalize all of my lessons for each student. For drum students we typically start with the basics of a rock beat which can translate to any style and eventually move into other styles, reading music and learning songs. Guitar students will start with basic chords and scales used for soloing as well as learning to read basic music and tablature. For piano I prefer the Bastien piano series for younger students and use various adult books for older students. Once I learn what you are interested in your particular lesson path will be tailored to you.

My Teaching dates back to my 11th grade year in high school. I've kept a consistent basis teaching children and performing master classes at local school like North Side High School in Columbus Georgia. I had the pleasure of growing up with a Music Educator father who pushed me to stay consistent in the persuit of my goals. I love performing just as much as I love teaching. I believe that experience through practice and performance is the best teacher. I encourage any student to leave it all on the table each time they play, and to pretend that each practice rehearsal is a performance. Small steps with marked progress equal motivated students. I make saxophone interesting.

I pride myself on my experience in teaching drums, trap set drumming, to others.  My method is simplistic and non-regimented.  Most importantly, I make each student feel at ease.  Presenting an enjoyable learning climate, where students are not pressured to perform beyond their speed or capability, and never feel intimidated.  Student skills are nurtured and developed on an individual basis.  I strive to build confidence in all my students. Contact me via Musika to arrange a schedule suitable to us both.  Thank you!

Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
