My experience is very broad.
I have over 17 years of experience teaching Band & Choir on every level from Elementary to College . Prior to my appointment at Coppin State University, I taught High school for 14 years, Elementary and Middles school for 4 through out the state of Maryland. Among a host of my awards and accolades, I will always consider my students accomplishments as my greatest reward as an educator. Under my mentorship, my students have gone on to successful careers as musicians, directors, teachers, performers, educators, recording artists, secret service and managers. There is no greater gift then to see the fruits of your labor blossom and grow into something great and beautiful.
I am a humble musician who works hard and has a love to spread the joy of music to others. I studied music at the University of West Georgia and graduated in 2014. I have performance experience having played with many different groups. In teaching I like to focus directly on what the student wants to acheive. There are many ways to get to the same place and I want to make sure every one of my students follows a path that fits their style of learning. In my lessons the students are encouraged to have fun but also work hard. If the student is not having fun they are missing the whole point of playing music, on the other hand if they aren't working and improving they are missing the whole point of taking lessons. It is critical to find a balance between the two to be a sucessful and happy musician.
My philosophy for music, education and life is that no two people are alike and therefore no two lessons can be alike. While I do have certain books that I like to use as a guide line I try to personalize all of my lessons for each student. For drum students we typically start with the basics of a rock beat which can translate to any style and eventually move into other styles, reading music and learning songs. Guitar students will start with basic chords and scales used for soloing as well as learning to read basic music and tablature. For piano I prefer the Bastien piano series for younger students and use various adult books for older students. Once I learn what you are interested in your particular lesson path will be tailored to you.
I start out with the book Chords Scales and Arppegios for piano and Drum Styles & Basic Jazz for Drum Set students All lessons are taught at the student's home and parents are encouraged to participate and ask questions and give input suggestions etc.

Drum lessons will cover drumming techniques, learning to read music, and music theory. The teachers in our network will usually suggest specific method books for the student to use during their drum lessons.
Most students would ideally start with a 5 piece drum kit complete with a high-hat, crash, and ride cymbal, but any student can start with as little as a drum practice pad and a pair of drum sticks. A student can learn to read and play rhythms using both hands using any type of drum, including snare, bongos, conga, or djembe.
In home drum lessons are a convenient option for improving your musical skills. In home lessons are virtually the same in every aspect as lessons taught in a studio. Lessons are taught once a week and significant progress can be made in a short time, especially if students are practicing every day.
Adult drum lessons are tailor-made for your own needs and skill level. We have many adult students taking drum lessons for the first time. Drums will help you increase your level of coordination and help you achieve your musical goals.
Since drums are a very physical instrument, requiring long periods of dexterity in the hands and fingers, we suggest students start drum lessons at age 7 or 8. Additionally, a drum student learning from a drum kit should at the very least be able to reach the pedals on the drums.

Laura is the kind of teacher you wish you had in all your studies: gracious, easy-going, light-hearted, yet behind the easy going exterior is an excellent musical mind with everything at her fingertips. I've had about 5 teachers in my life who count as really influential people, and Laura easily fits that category. She lets you be yourself so that you are fully present rather than old-school doctrinaire style, what I call "stiff as a German, sig-heil" teachers. She's the polar opposite. Brava, Laura! Thank you so much!

Dan gave private clarinet lessons to my daughter, Annie, for two years. During that time, she excelled as a member of the middle school band, and maintained first-chair. Dan is an excellent teacher, and Annie looked forward to having one-on-one time with him. In addition to practicing pieces with her, he helped her with scales and greatly improved her tone quality.

My two daughters wanted to study piano fore some time now and just recently I found Musikalessons website and teacher Milica. I can only say that my daughters are very happy with their piano lessons and simply adore Milica. They already made a great progress and we're all happy with what they learned in this short period. Thank you Musikalessons and Milica.

Andrew is very encouraging and uplifting, but also isn't afraid to tell you your weaknesses. Andrew also is super awesome with scheduling. Fits around your schedule all the time. He really knows what he is doing and can help you reach your goal in the time you would like to. Couldn't have gotten a better teacher, who continually helps me grow and pushes me.

Omar is a great teacher as he provides expert instruction AND the right amount of encouragement. He is a professional musician on several instruments, yet he is patient with beginners! He also has gone out of his way to purchase an appropriate book for me, strings to re-string the cello, and extra attention to tuning. I appreciate how he explains and demonstrates exactly what a beginning cello student needs to know.

Travis rocks. My 7-year-old son and I both take lessons with him. Travis has moved me off the plateau I was on with lessons that focus on theory and technique. And for my son, he's been able to instill a desire and interest that were missing when he previously took piano lessons. With Travis teaching us, the limits are the ones we impose on ourselves. Needless to say, Travis himself plays a mean guitar to boot!

My 4-year-old has had several lessons with Martina now, and he has learned a lot. Obviously, it is challenging to teach such a young child, and he has learned quite a lot in a short time, and is very excited to learn about violin and for his lessons. I think Martina is doing an excellent job, is quite patient, and is teaching him in such a way that he can really remember his new skills from week to week. We look forward to many more lessons with Ms. Martina!

Amber is personal and cares about her students. She is flexible in her schedule and maintains a professional attitude in her lessons. Her want for her students to succeed makes her excel as a teacher. She is very knowledgeable about music and extremely experienced. Additionally, she includes external activities aside from lessons for the students who wish to advance themselves externally. Really a great teacher who offers great opportunity.

I started taking voice lessons from Ali when I was 19 and a sophomore in college. Though I was hesitant to be starting "late", I felt very comfortable with Ali and her teaching style. We identified several key issues that really made a difference and improved my voice technique. It was fun to sing popular, beautiful songs in our recital! If only I lived in Los Angeles, I would still be a student. Highly recommended!
Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.Ok
Are you sure that's your only availability? The more availability you easier it will be to arrange a teacher for you.
