Once my younger students have progressed to have a grasp of the fundamentals, I begin to introduce solo repertoire that is appropriate for their first recital performance. Once the student has progressed to have a grasp of the fundamentals, I will begin to introduce solo repertoire appropriate for their first recital performance. For adults, I try to find out what the student is interested in, and guide my instruction accordingly to keep the lessons engaging and fun, no matter their ability level. My beliefs are that learning each stage well will help expedite the process of learning and playing later in life. At some point shortly after the fundamentals we will begin on solo literature and possibly duet literature. I have been teaching students off and on in my home or at church for the last 4 years. I encourage students to make time for regular practice on a consistent schedule.
