Overview:

I am extremely passionate about helping people improve the overall health of their singing, and strive to instill greater confidence in their voice. I have been teaching privately for four years, both in-person and remotely, and have also given guest masterclasses at the University of South Florida. I graduated from the Manhattan School of Music with a Bachelor in Vocal Performance, and from there went on to study at Indiana University, graduating in 2013 with a Master's degree in Vocal Performance. I have been singing professionally as an operatic soprano since 2014, and have sung on stages across the US with companies like Sarasota Opera, Wichita Grand Opera, Nashville Opera, Opera Tampa, Salt Marsh Opera in Connecticut, Opera Southwest in Albuquerque, and several others. I have sung leading operatic soprano roles including: (Violetta, Mimi, Musetta, Gilda, Micaëla, Leïla, Rosalinda, Fiordiligi, etc.) I love helping people fall in love with their voice, and my goal is to help you find your most healthy and beautiful sound possible.

EXPERIENCE

My teaching experience started in Graduate school, at Indiana University. I taught voice lessons to a violin major who was interested in taking voice lessons on the side. Since then, I've maintained a voice studio from my home and remotely, as I've traveled and moved around the country for singing work. I've been based in Tampa, FL now for close to seven years, and was teaching voice lessons via Face-time and Zoom from 2020-2021, and then also began in-person lessons from my home after Fall of 2021. I specialize in opera and classical vocal technique, although I have students who sing in many styles, like pop, jazz, and musical theater.

METHODS USED

My main priority is creating a fun, safe place where we can explore your singing goals together. My two main priorities in teaching are helping you create the best "beauty of tone" possible while maintaining optimal vocal health. While we go through vocal warm-ups, I like to mix sensational explanations with anatomical information while keeping the vibe fun and light. I'm a cheerleader at heart, and I find so much joy in helping others improve their singing! I believe singing is a whole-body experience, and I can help you build a healthy singing technique from the ground, up.

LESSON STYLE

As I mentioned, I'm a cheerleader at heart, and I love to make my students laugh and feel good about their singing. I have been in situations myself as a voice student when I was made to feel self-conscious by my teacher or had even been close to tears in my discouragement over not understanding an instruction. No one should ever feel like, especially when doing something as vulnerable as singing. I have deep compassion and empathy for those students who have had negative experiences with voice teachers in the past, and I always make sure to tailor my language and instructions in a positive and encouraging way. Singing should be fun, not stressful. I'd love to help you feel confident and enjoy your singing voice!

Hanna is an angel walking amongst us!! She is incredibly supportive and kind to her students while giving them the opportunity to push themselves to their fullest potential. I have had lessons with other teachers where I left feeling completely discouraged and disillusioned; after a lesson with Hanna, I never fail to find my joy in singing again. Her philosophy of truly activating your support system and finding the most beautiful and healthy sound for you has been life-saving, and her thoughtful observations about technique allow you to reflect on your voice in your own practice. If you are looking for a teacher that will inspire you personally and vocally, Hanna is for you!

Hanna is truly a breath of fresh air! She is incredibly kind, talented, smart, and funny, all while being an absolute joy to work with. I found Hanna during a challenging point within my singing journey, and working with her has been a dream come true. She has helped me regain my love of music, inspiring me to do my best, while maintaining a positive atmosphere and having a clear, technical approach to singing. I have felt my own technique improve significantly over each and every lesson with Hanna, finding continually more ease in my sound production. Hanna has had such a wonderful impact on me, not just as a musician, but as a human, and I would strongly recommend her to anybody with a love of music!
