I have been teaching music since 1984, from private piano lessons for people of all ages to coaching voice and teaching beginning violin to college classes in piano and music theory. In the past two years, I have had the opportunity to present music clinics to elementary age children at the Tempe Public Schools through Kid Zone, the City of Tempe's enrichment program as a specialty instructor. I just recently moved to the Greater Phoenix Area. I have a very strong passion for singing and bringing music to others. I have three degrees in opera, but I have worked professionally singing everything from standard ballads to gospel songs. Performing all over the world has given me the opportunity to sing and learn things about other cultures that I would otherwise never have known about. I currently work at Mountain View High School and teach Extensive Sight-reading, Vocal Training and Accompany all eight choirs on the piano/keyboard. I am also on staff as a Music Literacy Instructor/Accompanist for the Phoenix Children's Chorus since 1996 and have had the opportunity to direct and accompany our choirs on 21 tours to date within the US and Internationally. For piano students, I like to use the Alfred courses.  This method is great because they have courses of study for all ages and levels, and students can progress through several courses throughout their study.  For flute/clarinet students, I like to start with either Hal Leonard's Essential Elements or the Rubank methods books.  Once students have moved beyond the basics, I like to introduce solo repertoire that is appropriate for their level. I am a musician, composer, teacher and author. I graduated from the NYC "Fame School"- Fiorello H. LaGuardia HS of Music and Art. I studied music theory and composition at Mannes Conservatory, NYC and received a BA as a Music Major from Aaron Copland School of Music/Queens College/CUNY. I took Graduate courses studying Special Ed/Music Therapy at Lehman College, NY. After in depth research with creating highly motivational music programs for all ages as well as for children that had ADD, Autism, or Aspergers, I was awarded a grant from the Grammy's to write a book.  I have traveled to Europe and the far east teaching creative music workshops.
