I am a performer, music teacher and accompanist who loves working with children and adults of all levels and ages. I believes music is not only an essential asset to a child's development, but it's fun. I received my Doctorate of Musical Arts degree in Piano Performance from Arizona State University in 2009 and has given solo and collaborative performances throughout the U.S. and abroad, including Chile, Argentina, Italy, New York, Ohio, and Arizona since 1986.
I have been teaching music since 1984, from private piano lessons for people of all ages to coaching voice and teaching beginning violin to college classes in piano and music theory. In the past two years, I have had the opportunity to present music clinics to elementary age children at the Tempe Public Schools through Kid Zone, the City of Tempe's enrichment program as a specialty instructor. I am currently in the teaching certificate program for Elementary Education through Rio Salado College.
I incorporate a variety of method books and approaches to learning music, believing that there is no one method for every student. For piano, my favorite methods are Faber and Faber's Piano Adventures, but I enjoy utilizing supplemental material from a variety of genres.
I absolutely love watching a student who has tried to understand a concept suddenly light up, smile, and say, "Oh, now I get it!" I believe that a teacher should try a variety of ways to help a student understand and "own" their musical knowledge. I set high standards for my students, starting where they are and encourgaing them to go beyond what they think is their personal best. I have students write goal and wish lists down throughout the year, setting small, reachable goals and then larger goals that may take longer to reach.
Great teacher. Works will with your vocal ambitions
Great lessons!! Works well with what you want to achieve with your vocals
Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.Ok
Are you sure that's your only availability? The more availability you easier it will be to arrange a teacher for you.
