In 2019, I graduated from Trinity University in San Antonio, TX with a Bachelor of Music degree with a double major in Instrumental Music Education and Spanish. I began my journey teaching in college when I became a tutor for underclassmen and women who desired extra guidance and insight in certain areas, which included music theory, composition, and performance. Since then I have taught in-home, in-studio, and online lessons regularly for over 5 years. Currently, I have upwards of 40 students of varying ages and levels, all very motivated and engaged in music. Most schools use the Hal Leonard Essential Elements and I tend to focus on this method as supplemental instruction but other methods are fine as well especially if the student is already working through a particular method book. For young students I encourage a mix of formal music instruction with music the student enjoys. Nothing unlocks a love of learning like discovering how your favorite music works! For beginning students I have a number of books, resources and methods that I utilize in order to keep the lesson engaging and enjoyable. For more advanced students, I typically have a lesson plan or a direction that I want to go after assessing strengths and weaknesses.
