Instruments: Guitar
For over 47 years I have played and instructed guitar. I began playing back in September of 1967 at the age of 10, on an inexpensive acoustic guitar purchased by my father from a pawn shop. I am self taught and learned to play by watching other guitarists, reading guitar instructional books, and listening to record albums. For most of my playing years I have also instructed students to play from beginner to advanced stages. Read More

I have been teaching private voice since 1991. Along with teaching privately out of my home, over the years I have served on faculty as an adjunct voice professor at the college and university level, and have taught private voice in school districts for their junior high and high school choirs. My own children study with me and are performing regularly in musical theater productions and choirs. I love helping singers discover their beautiful, God-given singing voice and watching it blossom as they consistently practice and apply the techniques. Read More
Instruments: Violin Viola
I have been playing violin for more than a decade. I began teaching violin three years ago at the same music school I started my own studies in. I started as a summer chamber councilor and then began teaching students as a private instructor. I use mainly the Suzuki method, and other non-traditional methods. My goal is to have my students progress in their instrument, and not only gain important skills, but also grow to love music! Read More
Instruments: Drums Mallet Percussion Orchestral Percussion
When it comes to beginner students, I always start with a few basic rudiments to help build coordination and then I start off with basic drum rhythms. From there, I try to get them to a point where they can play through a song and hopefully get them to play through a favorite song of theirs. When it comes to advanced students, I ask them what they are looking to learn specifically, that way I can give them what they want and challenge them musically. Read More
Instruments: Saxophone Clarinet
There isnt anything more rewarding to me than seeing all of my students develop a passion for music! Therefore, it's important that each student progresses at his or her own pace. I encourage this by setting realistic goals for my students at each lesson. Acknowledging accomplishments helps fuel a students desire to progress, and makes students eager to learn more. By trying to find out what inspires the student, I can successfully tailor my instruction to their wants and needs. Read More

Every person has different strengths, weaknesses, motivators, and goals. I like to keep all of these things in mind before I start designing a lesson plan for each person. I like to make sure that I am teaching both the ear to listen and the eye to read, so I make sure I can improve the development of both by providing effective sight=reading and aural exercises in every lesson.
