I first started teaching private lessons on a routine basis starting in 2016 while I was in school. Having finished my degree, I currently teach full time with a studio of over 30 students in grades 5 through 12. I have learned an incredible amount from teaching students how to play the trumpet, I tell many of my students that I have learned just as much from them as they have from me. I still take private lessons from teachers around the central Texas area and beyond when I can work it into my schedule so that I can keep learning and passing on whatever I learn to my students. I want my students to have fun, but to also engage in very structured learning. All students must find time to practice during the week, but the parents must be a huge part of helping their child learn this new instrument. We will set weekly, realistic goals for each lesson. During the lesson, we will review the last concept that was learned, go over the lesson for the day and then create a lesson for the following week and be sure that each lesson is explained and understood. I have been teaching students younger than me since I was in the 8th grade. I began professionally teaching when I began college in 2015. Currently, I teach students from schools involved in TMEA and ATSSB. My students have had success in All Region auditions, Area auditions, and solo and ensemble. I also encourage my in person students to participate in our annual studio recital, where they will play a solo in front of a live audience. Read More

Im a retired band director of 25 years in the Dallas ISD on all levels. I enjoy teaching privately. I have a Bachelor of Music degree from the University of North Texas, and Masters of Science in Music Technology from Indiana University Purdue University at Indianapolis. I was introduced to music early on by my parents. Being classically trained on the piano I started playing and writing songs at the tender age of seven. My early piano influences are Mozart, Beethoven and Gershwin amongst others. Growing up, I became even more influenced by Pop, R&B, Funk, and Rock artists from the likes of  Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson and Prince.
