While still in college, I was a music tutor at North Star in Hadley For two years. I worked one-on-one with students in middle school on both voice and guitar. During my time there, I taught kids anything from different chords on the guitar, to breath support and passion in one's singing, to vocal improvisation and stage confidence. Once the student is at a comfortable level, I will proceed to introduce him to Body Mapping. It's a good comprehensive approach for an older person. Then the same applies to music literature books and recitals. For voice I follow the same general rules for younger singers and adults. I use vocal exercises appropriate to their level and age. We work on breathing and proper support for the voice, as well as vocal health.
