I am a very passionate and dedicated instructor who really enjoys working with students and watching them grow into the great musicians I know they can be! In 2016 I graduated Summa Cum Laude from Berklee College of Music. My music has been internationally acclaimed and played all over the world. I am a very active teacher, solo artist and session musician in the Boston and New York City scenes. I also love being a student, so much so, that I am currently a grad student at Tufts where I am currently pursuing a masters degree in music composition. Read More

I can make an original curriculum tailored towards your individual goals. For beginner students who are children, I teach solfege for learning Absolute Pitch, which is connected to playing Western music. Achieving aural skills by singing, and getting sight-reading ability is one of the most important skills in learning to play piano easily. For adult beginners, I also recommend mastering sight-reading, which is how to read pitch, rhythm and length. Read More

A class once or twice a week is beneficial I believe for keeping up the continuity of practice. We will work on first the guitar as an instrument, basic chords, chord structures, some basic scales, and over time making chord changes happen as the minds memory/muscle memory for remembering chords grows! This is crucial for making the basic song happen. I encourage my students to find a handful of songs they really enjoy and may want to learn, so that we can learn them piece by peice. Read More

My solo recital in 2016 at the Myra Hess Concert Series in Chicago was broadcast live on WFMT Radio. Read More

For beginning students who are children, I typically start with a modified Suzuki method, starting with rote learning and eventually progressing to notated music. Once the student has progressed to have a grasp of the fundamentals, I will begin to introduce solo repertoire appropriate for their first recital performance. For adults, I try to find out what the student is interested in, and guide my instruction accordingly to keep the lessons engaging and fun, no matter their ability level. Read More
Instruments: Piano Voice Trumpet Trombone Saxophone Clarinet Organ Euphonium French Horn Tuba Music Keyboard
I do tend to assign, as mentioned elsewhere, listening homework. I do this because I've seen it help students learn what they want to and need to learn faster as well as help students learn to like, love, or at least appreciate new things. The main point here is that every student is complex, difficult, and hard insomuch as teaching method required, but my passion is so great that I don't see issues or problems but rather new opportunities to get students excited about learning and demonstrating what they've learned. Instruments: Trumpet Music
I believe there is no "cookie cutter" method to teaching so I tailor my lessons specifically to each of my students. I have found that having a strong foundation in classical music sets the tone for musical excellence for all styles, regardless of age or musical maturity. From that perspective I like to start all of my students on The Arban's and Herbert L. Clarke Method books for trumpet. As we progress, I will add other method books/repertoire that emphasize what the student wants to learn or to highlight an area the student or I think could use improvement. Read More
